Voltra E1 review: an electric hatchback that finally makes sense

A real-world range of 238 km, a quiet cabin and a home charging cost of about 1.1 rupees per kilometre, with a short warranty on the battery.

In this story

The Voltra E1 is a small electric hatchback that costs less than most diesel compact SUVs. We drove it for 900 km over a week.

Rated range is 315 km; in mixed use we got 238 km, falling to 190 km with the air-conditioning at full blast on the highway. A fast charger took the battery from 10 to 80 percent in 52 minutes.

At home, charging cost about 1.1 rupees per kilometre at a typical domestic tariff, against 7 rupees for a petrol hatchback.
